Mission Statement
We believe that every student is a part of the body of Christ. If given the basic foundation of Bible instruction and nurtured by church and family, students will mature into a Christian lifestyle and serve our Lord with gladness. Kicks for Jesus is dedicated to first teach students God's word through the memorization of scripture; second, to teach and encourage a daily prayer life; thirdly, to create an opportunity to learn how to cooperate with each other as a group, to respect authority, to build self-confidence, to love and respect each other, family, and the church. We are dedicated to building the church of tomorrow through teaching the students today. Taekwondo is the art of self-defense and self-control. It is the instrument used to attract people to the program. Jesus used fish and bread on occasion, which fulfilled the need at that time. We use the sport of Taekwondo, which has been proven to motivate students to learn, to build self-esteem, and lessen the potential of violence, as well as provide an extracurricular activity that keeps them away from destructive influences outside the church. We believe that all these are needs that must be fulfilled.
The Goal of Kicks for Jesus
It is our goal as part of the church ministry for people, to plant spiritual seeds that in time will mature and increase the kingdom of God. We want to reach as many people as possible for Jesus Christ.
Students will learn the Bible through memorization of scriptures such as: The Ten Commandments, John 3:16, Psalm 100, Psalm 23, The Lords Prayer, various miracles of the Bible, the Beatitudes, and many other
faith building verses.
Students will learn self-control and respect for authority through basic Taekwondo training. Working cooperatively as a group is imperative, respecting others as demanded. When students learn to respect
others, they will likewise learn to respect themselves.
Taekwondo instruction is given so that every person can succeed. This success naturally builds self-esteem and confidence.
Students will learn how to avoid fights, to have the courage to walk away through instruction, confidence
building, and out of respect for the belt they have earned. When a person has "nothing to prove", they can walk away from these threats with their heads held high.
Students will learn how to lose. Winning is easy, learning to lose with a good attitude has to be developed. This will be done through experiencing defeat in class, being taught to appreciate the abilities God has
given to others, and understanding that success is not always measured in trophies.
Students will learn confidence in standing before a group of people through practice in class and by participating in programs for the church.
Students will learn to attend worship because they are required to attend as long as they are in the Kicks for Jesus program.
Students are expected to participate in Kicks for Jesus activities such as demonstrations, dramas, and programs presented for churches and or organizations.
Students will earn belts in Taekwondo as their physical skills are developed as well as their Bible knowledge.
